Old wood beech Uyaa
Enduring Force of Nature
This is an exceptionally hard and dense wood that is particularly durable, standing on par with classic oak. Its heartwood character is as robust as that of rosewood, and its gray tone evokes the impression of having been exposed to the elements for years. It is this latter quality that gave the wood its name: in a First Nations language, Uyaa means "force of nature."
Characteristics Typical of Solid Wood
A very hard and resilient wood that is easy to work with. The wood darkens very slowly over time and is, therefore, relatively color-stable.
Exposure to Light
However, should the wood be exposed to direct UV sunlight, it will—like any other wood species—gradually become somewhat lighter in color.
Wood-Specific Treatment
A high-quality staining process finished with a water-based Hydro-UV varnish.
